There is no excuse for having let this blog go for so long. Apologies are futile and there is not reason. The only thing I can offer is an apology to my readers and a vested interest to regain the belief that my updates will be more regular.

I am done apologizing. Life does occur faster then it can be recorded.

My girls are now 7 and 4 years old. I look at them now and realize that they can both comprehend much more of the world and how it treats others and the impact of their own actions. They have witnessed one of the most remarkable moments in history, they were old enough to realize the impact of the event when the first black political candidate was voted in to the United States of America as president, Barack Obama.

They have now both experienced in school the power of will, the threat of bullying, the power in numbers, the courage of individuality and the comfort in friends. As parents that is all you ask. You ask for your kids to experience everything, both good and bad. Even when the bad moments hurt and you hurt for them it is better to be there so you can explain it to them and make them feel like the whole world is not against them but just a moment in a long life of moments.

My wife and I have given them every perspective of the purpose of things and why things are done the way they are. I hope for both of them that they learn from it but also challenge the way things are.

I hope that they push the envelope and dont accept the status quo and forge their own path and make a new path for other like minds to follow

They are both stunningly beautiful, witty, intelligent, polite and loving. They are one of the reasons I woke up and one of the biggest reasons why I have valued the statement –

A promise is a promise

Waking up early to doing everything she was told to getting her bag packed and getting her shoes on....Macy was living the first day of school to the utmost.

Thursday Sept 11th 2008 was a very sad day. It would normally be reserved to remember the men women and children that died at the twin towers in NYC but today there was another reason why the sadness was upon us. That day was the first time Macy got on a school bus and went away for the first time. She was so excited

She looked so cute on her first day and I don’t think she could stand waiting for the bus any longer when it appeared down the road. She lined up in front and was busting at the seams to get on. She got on with her big sister and sat in the fifth row from the front on the right side. She was waving with the biggest smile.

It was what she had been looking forward to since Cali started going to school. It was finally here – the day she got to ride the bus!

She made some pictures and got a story read and almost had a time out but as she put it – not really – HAHAHA

Macy waved good bye as the bus drove away and of all the things that affected me most it was the school bus taking her away to make her different when she returned.

I am not speaking of a dramatic change – just an overall. It has to be she spent a whole day in a place that she will build as her own world – one that Mom and Dad cannot truly ever really know.

It is the most exciting feeling to watch your little ones thoroughly enjoy a new experience.

She got big and told no one - she didnt listen and got bigger. She refused direction and all of a sudden she is four and geared to get on with it. This is the summary of her birthday and what she was like on that day

Macy Soleil Clements also known as Fudz, turned four years old on Thursday Sept 4, 2008. Every year Macy has a birthday a little bit of me ages double. Not because I feel older, not at all actually. Macy aging means that the little one, the one that has never been in a rush for anything…rushed into another birthday. We woke her up and Jen cuddled her. We sang happy birthday to her while she bobeed to it with a smile with her bed head in full effect. Her day consisted of hanging with Mom as Cali went to school and I went to work. She was able to have popcorn for breakfast and got to laugh with her Mom all day.

The best thing about Macy when its her birthday is she gets very cute. More cute then normal because she knows the attention is solely hers on that day. She also loves it that her big sister makes a pretty big deal of it so that she always feels special.

We had her birthday party on the Sunday and a bouncy clown castle was rented to house all the screaming meamies – HAHAHA

Too bad the first hour and a half it rained on the castle and 15 kids were in our house screaming and running around like a bunch of lunatics. Macy had a lot of fun because a lot of the kids that were invited were from the hood and she has gotten quite close to them – even though they fight everyday and then make up.

At the end of day – Macy had droopy eyes and lost her wah – she faded in true fashion and as I entered the room before I went to bed to look at her on her 4th birthday day – I looked at my little lady that despite all my pleading and begging is going to grow up.

Happy birthday Macy

Soccer within the Clements household has a new member. She stands 3ft nothing and is world to the gills. She can hardly contain herself and is going to show the world, that she wants to be like her big sister Cali and play soccer.

The evening decided to revert back to the tail end of winter. It was raining sideways and Macy had her first soccer game last Wednesday. She could not stop smiling in her uniform as she suited up. Could not wait to get her new soccer shoes on. The field could not come to the car fast enough. Most importantly, she was going to play soccer just like her best biggest older sister.

She listened to everything her coach said. She followed every instruction and was just happy to be a part. It was like watching someone wake up to a love they had always known.

As Jen got her into the car, Macy asked why her hair was wet.

She was so engrossed in what she was doing that she was unaware that it was raining hard the whole time she was playing

Jen replied “You’re sweating – you played so hard that your sweating”

I have a funny feeling that Macy is going to be the type of person that is devoted to whatever cause or goal she sets her mind to…and as her Dad – I am OK with that.

I looked into their eyes this morning and saw the best I will ever see in our species. The best in children is the acceptance of the unexplainable.

I am an adult that believes that you should embrace all the good things that different beliefs have to offer. It may be in the form of religion, passion, atistic freedom or childhood naivety. No matter what the form or the origin of the belief, to see good things happen to people of that belief and what it causes to those around them warms my heart. I was the proud father of two girls today. I was more proud then I have been in a very long time and for no other reason then because my girls were smiling. They were smiling from ear to ear.

I looked into their eyes this morning and saw the best I will ever see in our species. The best in children is the acceptance of the unexplainable.

What can ever stop your heart more then seeing a child ecstatic at the fact that the nicest of men hsa visited and bestowed gifts for no reason other then they had acted as good children should and are rewarded accordingly.

Munx and Fudz bounced all the way downstairs and vibrated through mounds of chocolate and gifts and wrapping paper to a place in the heart of young ones that resonates and adults adoration to cause them to realize….

Christmas with your own child is hands down one of the gifts that will never take away from you but only build you to a stronger and more appreciative place.

Thank you Cali and Macy for allowing me to be part of your experience. Jen made the day fantastic is a million ways I can never enunciate properly. As the butterfly I know her to be she was beautiful in ever yaspect and I thank her for giving me the two most precious reminders of purpose a man can ever be given.

Cali started showing spots and instantly the itch started. Cali did not suffer from any fever and seemed relatively in tune with everything that was happening. What she did suffer from was an extreme blast of the POX – she got at least double maybe even triple the amount that her sister Macy had received.

Cali has always been a tough cookie who never gets sick. When she does get sick though, nobody feels it more than Cali. She is a bit dramatic on the best of days and this was no different….actually, probably the worse. Cali moaned for three days and in her head felt the itch before it was possible.

She finally got some sleep and normal Cali returned.

Jen and I felt really bad for her because she got them in the worst places. She had chicken pox in her mouth in her ears and a bunch on her head. She did get really itchy and it made her very unpleasant and agitated. Through it all she was able to crack a smile or two and loved it when she was offered to go spend 5 days with Nana and Papa until the end of the week.

Having Cali away from us was very weird. When a parent has a child away from them there is an odd sense of longing that you can not describe in normal words to another. You feel incomplete until it is returned to normal order. I love her and even though I was short with her because she is a bit of a whiner….It broke my heart to see her in pain

When the chicken pox strike it takes a toll both on the child and the parents. This is a brief summary of how Macy Soleil battled the Pox and came out on top

You read right. Macy got attacked by the Chicken Pox last Friday and it did a number on her. In conjunction with that macy had a double ear infection. When it rains it pours. She rocked a high fever for three days and then Sunday came and it finally broke. Well once the fever breaks the spots start to appear with a vengeance. I do have to say she was really good. She hardly scratched them and was for the most part a real trooper. Nana and Papa came down the first weekend and her buddy Papa watched her during the week and kept her spirits up. Even though she had to lay low she was back to her usual mischievous self by Wednesday. Jen found out that Oatmeal baths are good for chicken pox and alleviate some of the itch. It did help tremendously.

All in all – one kid now immune the other still to go.

Toilet training has to be one of the most talked about steps in raising a child. Our first daughter, Cali was so easy to train that we did not understand what all the fuss was about. She had no problem learning and was eager to never be sitting in a wet diaper or underwear.

Our second daughter, Macy has made us rethink the ease of toliet training. Macy has been in one form or another slowly training for a couple of months with no real success. She either has no interest or is oblivious to the warning signs of an oncoming accident.

Straight to Underwear…Caused a Break In The Cycle.

Today we put her in underwear and carefully monitored her, we must have placed her on the toilet every 20 – 40 minutes. She went almost every time and was so proud. We tell her each time how proud we are of her and she beams with self assurance.

On one such occasion, after she went she looked up at me and said;

Daddy Happy?…Now Do The Pee-Pee Dance.

I laughed and did the semi-spazmatic version of the running man / junk shakin’ holler and she giggled.

I think we are definetely on to something, minus the Pee-Pee dance, I hope it sticks.
